Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister has been hospitalized after showing further symptoms related to COVID-19.
The 55-year-old politician on March 27, announced that he tested positive for the virus and had been in self-isolation at his Downing Street residence.
However, a statement released from his office says that he has been admitted to the hospital on his doctor's advice. It is understood that Prime Minister’s admission is not an emergency, but was considered sensible because of his persistent symptoms.
Reports suggests that he is in an NHS hospital in London where he will stay for “as long as needed”.
“On the advice of his doctor, the Prime Minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests. This is a precautionary step, as the Prime Minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus.”
Johnson is the most high-profile world leader to contract the virus. His pregnant partner, Carrie Symonds, said she has been ill with symptoms for a week but was now recovering.
